| Pre-boarding search of National Security Minister results in arrest of aviation security personnel and salary reduction |
The National Security Minister was subjected to a pre-boarding inspection by a security officer working for the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), which has resulted in their arrest.\
In a letter dated September 8, GACL detailed how embarrassing Awudu Basit's search of Albert Kan-Dapaah at the Kumasi Airport's VVIP Lounge was.
The search left a "bad impression" on the company, according to the letter written by R. S. Tagoe, the officer in charge of human resources and officer service.
The statement said, "Management has chosen to properly investigate the events leading to this incident in light of the detrimental impact it cast on the company's reputation and integrity.
The GACL warned that Mr. Basit "would be paid two-thirds of his pay throughout the term of interdiction" as a sanction.
Some Ghanaians have since voiced their opinions over the interdiction.
They contend that the National Security Minister is subject to searches and seizures since he is not above the law.
However, some have criticized the officer in question while decrying the interdiction that followed.
